El Mar que nos separa (“The Sea between us”) (2016)
Using the sea as a metaphor for the distance that separates us, this video is an exploration of family dynamics regarding my mother, sister and myself. How does our mother look at us from afar? And how do we, as daughters, contemplate her figure in our lives?
El Mar que nos separa is a collaborative split screen video that combines footage from Chile filmed by my mother and footage from Rockaway Beach filmed by me.
